Adobe Firefly alternatives

Adobe Firefly needs an Adobe account even for free use and doesn't publish its free daily limit; paid plans include unlimited standard image generations, but the credits for premium features and partner models expire each month. These alternatives include no-account tools, a design platform and paid studios with editing features of their own.

What to check before you leave Adobe Firefly

Mainly your credits, which other Adobe apps share, and which models made your images. Adobe's own pages cover both.

  • One credit balance works across Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom and Express, so check whether you use generative features there before you cancel a Firefly plan. (source)
  • Adobe's commercial-use statement covers its own Firefly models, not partner models. Canva's AI terms say you own your output, and Midjourney's terms say you own what you create, with a rule for companies earning over $1M a year. (sources: 1, 2, 3)
  • If you used partner models such as GPT Image or Nano Banana in Firefly, Leonardo AI and Ideogram offer them too. (sources: 1, 2, 3)
  • Firefly's paid plans include standard image generations with no cap. Midjourney's Relax mode, on Standard and higher, and Leonardo AI's relaxed generation, on Premium and Ultimate, are also uncapped but slower. (sources: 1, 2, 3)
  • Images generated entirely in Firefly, such as with Text to Image, carry Content Credentials that record the Adobe tool used. Midjourney adds a hidden ID tag to each image, and Canva says Dream Lab images include a visible AI label. (sources: 1, 2, 3)
